1991/12/15, Mom passed away. A few days later, I was on a train heading towards Mom's hometown to get some paperworks done. On the way back, on the night train, I scribbled down this song in my tiny notebook. Though the song says nothing about Mom at all, every time I hear it, it still takes me back to that scene on that night train.
This was the last song I wrote and recorded before I left Taiwan. In a way, it was my farewell to my homeland.
(English translation)
I had kept your telephone number in my memo for years The 7 ordinary digits put together could lead me to you
In fact, I never had enough courage to dial the number to call you But as long as I had these 7 digits, they gave me a peace of mind
Until one day, I heard that You had already left the city for quite some time With all the memories that once belonged here Heading to a far-off country, gone without a trace
I have kept your telephone number in my memo for years The 7 familiar digits put together, now where can they lead me to?
Keeping the 7 digits I thought you would have never disappeared All I dared was to keep the 7 digits I thought I could have kept you here
